This season, garlic is abundant, and there is a large amount of garlic in the market. In addition to the slowdown in the speed of goods during the public crisis, the market prices are slightly sluggish. With regard to the recent garlic market, Manager Fang accepted an interview with FRESH PLAZA.

"Compared to the South American market, the African market has been relatively sluggish recently. Our exports to Africa have dropped by about half compared to the same period in previous years. Especially under the influence of the local public crisis, there have been occasions where ship schedules have been extended or goods have been squeezed in ports. We delivered a batch of goods to the African market in mid-May and have not yet arrived in port.

But since June, the shipping and logistics situation has basically returned to normal. "Manager Fang said, "At present, the FOB price of fresh garlic to Africa is about 700-800 US dollars/ton, which has increased from the previous month, but it is still lower than garlic price 2019. "When it comes to forecasting market conditions in the coming weeks, Manager Fang said, "At present, China Garlic Price have risen significantly, but overseas markets have continued to slump." There are many factors that affect the market conditions this season, and the specific garlic market trend needs to continue to wait and see. ""This year, Egyptian garlic was allowed to be exported to Brazil for the first time, which caused a certain degree of impact on domestic garlic exports. In addition, due to the impact of the public crisis environment, our exports to the Brazilian market may be halved this year, which is expected to be around 200-300 container.

Manager Fang said, “As far as the recent situation is concerned, in the past two months, our exports of dehydrated garlic to Brazil have remained basically the same as in previous years, and there has been no significant increase or decrease, while the export of fresh garlic has decreased by about 15% compared with the same period in previous years. The current export price of better quality fresh garlic to Brazil is about US$800/ton. This price is about 1.5 times lower than the peak sales in April. I expect the market in Brazil to be better in the later period."
